HARRAH'S CASINO - NEW ORLEANS
Modus was a joint venture partner on this mammoth project. Harrah’s 200,000 sq. ft. building translates into five acres under one roof. Designed for maximum pedestrian access, Harrah’s sits at the foot of Canal Street, within walking distance of the Mississippi and directly in between the world famous French Quarter and the New Orleans Central Business District. Completely harmonious with traditional buildings in New Orleans, the building features a copper roof, brick and limestone exterior walls, ornamental metal work, grand arched openings, columns, arcades, pilasters, pitched roofs and decorative moldings. Harrah’s New Orleans Casino also features two garage buildings and a pedestrian tunnel crossing below Poydras St. to connect them with the casino. The $110 million construction budget represents one of the largest architectural freestanding casino projects at the time.
